I use this blog to not only post my wedding and portrait photography but my own personal & travel photographs. If you follow this blog you will see that I’ve been posting photos intermittently from my recent honeymoon in Central America (including Havana, Cuba.)
The architecture in Havana is fascinating, there is an amazing mix of grand art deco mixed in with soviet block style buildings. Most are falling down and in need of repair, others (usually of national importance) are preserved as if built yesterday.
Wow, what can I say. It was such a pleasure to photograph Claire & Dane’s wedding at Studley Park Boathouse. A beautiful & lovely couple, an amazing and fun group of family and friends combined with a relaxed ceremony is such a winning combination.

Baby Ami didn’t mind having her photo taken at all. Actually she was more interested in looking at the camera and the flash, which she found fascinating! The photo session might have been a bit tiresome though, as after a little while she had a little grumble and was quickly rocked to sleep!
Another photograph from Cuba, my Central America series.
It feels as if every doorway or window in Cuba has someone sitting or standing in them. Usually they are either watching the passers by, chatting to neighbours, or just hanging around.
I really liked Trinidad, Cuba so I thought I’d post a few photos from our time there. This one is of a bus waiting room.
It’s surprising that I liked Trinidad considering that in Trinidad we rode bikes in torrential rains for about 7km back to town, lost a small point and shoot camera, took a bus still half wet for six hours with crazy cold aircon. However, we did meet some good people, stay in a fancy casa with actual hot water, eat cheese pizzas for 10 cents and see an awesome jazz/salsa session with most of the town in the square…
Well, I thought I might try and post random travel photos from my trip (honeymoon) which saw us visiting San Francisco, Cuba, Mexico, Belize and Guatemala. So keep checking back to see photographic insights from our trip, I’ll try and post as much as possible…
I’ll be back on track with blog posts now that the festive season is over and I’m back in the country. Keep checking back to see where I was and what I was doing.
In the meantime these are some family photographs of the lovely Robinson family.
If you’ve been following my blog you’ll remember some posts I made of images from a personal project I am working on called “inner city living”. Here is another image which is part of that series.
If you like my personal work and consider it art, fit enough to hang on your walls or to grace a gift/greeting card, then you can purchase it framed, printed, mounted or on a card by clicking on this link or any of the images on the right hand side of this blog. Red bubble is actually really awesome, it allows you to buy my artwork at reasonable prices, exactly how you’d like it. You pick the frame, the mount board and even see a preview of how it will look!
I think the thing I like best about my job is the people I get to meet and the different kinds of work I get to do… I just love the variety of jobs I get to photograph!
The following are a small sample of images that were taken for a new school’s website.
While looking up some information on sunset times for a photo shoot of a series of buildings I am doing, I thought…this is valuable information I should share with my wedding clients.
Lighting is an extemely important factor to photography. Some which we can control (flash etc), some which we can’t (the sun). It is very important that when you plan your wedding, that you utilise the best light for your photographs. You do not want to be doing your photo session in the dark, because using only flash, is very unflattering.
The best time to take photographs is generally the couple of hours leading up to sunset and about half hour affter. If you book Lizzy C Photography I am of course here to advise you on how to best utilise the available light. We can also arrange the locations so as to use the best light available at the time at each location. This is something we can experiment with during your included e-session, prior to the wedding.
This is a good starting guide which indicates sunset/sunrise times at different times of the year.
So if you are wondering why I haven’t made a post lately… it’s because last weekend I got married!!
My beautiful clients have been asking to see photos, and have sent lovely messages of congratulations so I thought I better deliver!
The wedding was all about the jazz age and many of the guests, could have steped right out of the 1920s! We had a fantastic day, we got married here in Melbourne but guests came from all over including Hong Kong, Malaysia and Japan and of course many from Queensland.
Ben from Sunlit video productions is putting together a video for us, my fantastic friend Rebecca took the photos, and Melissa from the Ceremony store married us, just the way we wanted!
My mother dried thousands of rose petals and put together my bouquet, Rebecca and Jodie helped me make all the bits and pieces which made our wedding really personal and illustrate our creative flair and Robyn made us the best chocolate cake I’ve ever eaten! Thanks everyone for making our wedding what it was!

I often get asked if people can include their pet in their photo session. And I always answer: Of course, why not?! So when Sandy & Oliver mentioned that their dog snowy was like their baby, it seemed not fair to include him in their photo session!
Sandy and Oliver run a web development company called webfolio. This includes working with small businesses to develop awesome websites.
They were great fun to photograph and real naturals in front of the camera!
The following photos are a small preview from their session.
PS I’m trialing a new feature where you can vote for your favourite image posted from a session, so try it out!
Recently I photographed iisle’s latest collection, iisle is a new fashion boutique in Camberwell. So if you like the clothing please go check out the complete range at iisle Melbourne in The Well at Camberwell.
The success of this shoot can be attributed to the wonderful team I had to work with, including
Chloe and Leon from iisle,
Jodie and Nicole from “Hair on Georges” on St Georges rd, North Fitzroy,
Amy Davis and her wonderful makeup,
Sharnee, Jade and Laura for modeling the clothes wonderfully,
and Dave and Mila my awesome assistants!
Thanks for all your hard work everyone… hope you like this preview! And as always feel free to leave comments!
Annette’s friends got together and gave her one of my photo session gift certificates for her birthday. How thoughtful are Annette’s friends!? So last weekend I photographed Annette and her family. Her two girls are absolutely adorable and even though Eloise’s word of the minute is ‘no’, I got some great cheeky photographs of her.
To some, the term “trash the dress” may sound scary or even a little crazy! But basically a trash the dress session with me can be as crazy as you want it to be.
Basically, you don’t have to literally “trash your wedding dress”, it might be just a photo session where you can be slightly more daring then you could be on your wedding day.
It gives you a chance to do some photos which might get your dress just a little dirty right through to soaking wet. It’s completely up to you, on how far you go!
Some people say that it can act as a de-stressor after being a bride , others look at it as just great fun and a chance to get some really artistic and different photographs.
Don’t worry, if you are a little bit timid, and don’t want to go “all the way” contact me and I’ll talk to you about how great dry cleaners can be!
We can arrange trash the dress photo sessions with just the bride or the bride and groom.
