This is a quick little craft that I did to incorporate our invitation into the birthday decorations. It’s incredibly simple. You’ll need two copies of your invite, foam, cardboard, and glue.

Five Tiered Cupcake Stand
You read that right! FIVE tiers! We are having cupcakes for Charlotte’s first birthday party, and her theme is Alice in Wonderland. This was really, REALLY easy to do. The best part? It only cost $11 in glassware and $4 for glue. That’s it! I want to give a shout out to Meghan for the idea. She made one of these bad boys, which inspired me to try it on my own.

And the winner of the UPrinting Poster Is. . .
The UPrinting Giveaway is officially closed! Thank you so much to everyone who participated. I considered using an online randomizer to choose a winner, but Charlotte said that she wants to help. (Okay, so I made that part up!) I printed out the number of each of the comments, and put them into her little beach pail. The first comment was number one, the second was number two, and so on. . .

I Eat at Mom’s
It’s World Breastfeeding Week! I have been thinking about what I wanted to write to add to the Breastfeeding Blog Hop, and I started thinking back to my experiences, and what helped me from the very beginning. First and foremost, my husband and I took a breastfeeding class with a lactation consultant, which I highly recommend for any expectant parents. At the class, we were given little slips of paper that said “I eat at Mom’s” to put in our baby’s bassinet after she was born. I packed my little slips of paper in the overstuffed labor bag, and tucked them in my baby’s bassinet before she even left the delivery room. I wanted to be sure that no one was going to accidentally give my baby a bottle or pacifier without talking to me first.
Reversible Crib Rail Covers
I’m putting this on the list of things I wish I would have known before baby. I have the clear plastic guards for the front of the crib, but I never bothered with the sides. Charlotte doesn’t spend a lot of time in her crib unless she’s asleep, so I didn’t think I needed them. The fact that she has eight teeth and chews on everything really should have clued me in that this could be a problem. A few weeks ago, I walked into her room and discovered this. . .

Brat Bans
A few months ago, my mother and I went shopping and grabbed lunch at the local Olive Garden – which was lovely. (I couldn’t stop myself from making an Old School reference there!) We had Charlotte with us, and I was armed with a high chair cover, placemat, snacks, and a sippy cup. She was just discovering her voice at that time, and spent lunch randomly squealing and giggling. We thought it was adorable. A couple sitting near us did not, and spent lunch glaring at us. Read the rest of this entry
