…has been greatly exaggerated. While a growing number of people have expressed their concern over the deteriorating mental health of president Donald J. Trump. I do not agree with them. Here is why.
People say the president is showing signs of dementia. I am no expert on the subject, but I detest all sorts of remote diagnosis. His descision to bomb Iran has been seen aos rash, or even as an act of a madman. In reality the path to these events has been long and president Trump has merely followed logically on it.

What started as a “special operation” to assasinate the Iranian leaders in the hopes, that the Iranian people would rise against their oppressive religious Conservative regime, has continued as a pointless contest of retaliation, because it was not nearly as easy to defeat a fanatical and religiously indoctrinated system, as was hoped for. Oh, it is a great war alright, as both sides can proclaim victory already at the very starting days long before we know when, or how it will end.
However, it is known how we got here. It all started during the first term of Trump presidency, largely because he wanted to demolish everything his predecessor president Obama had achieved. Such as the Affordable Care Act (“Obama care”) for wich there is still nothing exept a “concept of a plan” to replace it after 10 years, and indeed the agreement about the restrictions and monitoring of the nuclear program of Iran.
I guess the reason Trump so hates Obama and tries to compete with him every opportunity he gets, may be set in his ultimately racist demeanor. I mean, for some reason, Donald joined the Birther conspiracy movement and made himself look fairly stupid at doing so. Obama made it worse by joking about it at the White House Correspondent’s dinner. Donald was singled out as a laughing stock in front of a crowd of journalists. It must have triggered some nasty memories from when he was still a boy and had to attend those posh schools his father paid for him, altough he clearly was too stupid to learn anything – The man does not even know you can not cut the price of anything more than the full 100%!!! Now that he is the president and supposed to host this prestigious event, he never attends the dinner.
Next major step towards the war happened when the Iranian airdefence grid of three batteries of the Russian made S-300 missile systems (originally the Russians refused to sell it to Iran, and just for comparrison Ukraine had about 100 units of these active in 2022) mystically blacked out on the very minute the Israeli Airforce was about to strike them two years ago. Since then Iran has stood open to any sort of airstrikes. Nobody has sold them new systems – nobody. As if Iran was this big bate left out to hang, just to see if anyone thought air superiority would be enough to take her out. The Iranian airforce consited mostly of unserviced older fighter planes, that have not seen proper replacement parts in decades. Even at best they could have made a short and pointless demonstration. Everybody knew this. Yet, nobody has tried to force Iran into compliance since Saddam fought his war against them. Why? Could it have been just because they had a stranglehold with easily deployable cheap weaponsystems, like mines, on the strait of Hormuz, through wich 20% of the world’s oil moves? What idiot would attack them when they could, and have threatened to do this, if attacked?
Well, they did not do it when the USA and Israel hit the Iranian nuclear research station. Trump celebrated declaring Iran’s entire nuclear program was eliminated! Exept it was’nt. As it turns out, all that was achieved were some very expensive holes in the ground. This is simply because without the actual monitoring by the IEAE inspectors on the ground, you are equally unaware of the Iranian uranium, it’s whereabouts and quantity, as you were about the weapons of mass destruction Iraq once harboured. That debacle turned out cheap and fine, right?
During the Persian Gulf War back in 1980 – 88, Iraq had the backing of both Soviet Union and USA, not to mention of a great many other powerfull nations. Iran stood alone, and despite the high tactical skills, many overwhelming victories, technical and technological superiority, air superiority, even extensive and highgly effective use of forbidden chemical weapons by Iraq (that seemed to bother much anybody at the time), the result was pretty much a draw. Could there have been a lesson to be learned?
While Iran has a history of withstanding punishment, same can hardly be said of the USA. The dangerous illusion of superiority has made the US military surprisingly fragile. Even though it should be obvious to everyone, winning wars does take sacrifices, simply because the other side is not likely to idly sit by as you go about your business. The US military is ready to send out a multimillion dollar rescue and sacrifice helicopters just for one pilot. Why? What happens, if the war drags on and the Iranians figure out a way to drop more US planes? Is there going to be a similar rescue attempt every time? What if the rescue fails, or goes horribly wrong like when a rescue operation crashed while trying to save the hostages Iran had taken during the Carter administration?
This war has already cost astronomical figures in taxpayer money, not only in gas prices, or from the problems it has caused the world economics, but just in how the USA has depleted it’s own wartime storages of advanced weaponry, not to mention the air fuel spent on constant sorties. The real price tag is still waiting to emerge, as the damage to fertilizer awailability and lack of gas for irrigation pumping starts to set in.
Declaring victory on the first day of a campaign may sound like a stupid move, exactly because it is. It is not the result of dementia. It is just silly. Later on, it may be a good thing for the US voters to tell each other, but especially to themselves, that Trump was slowly losing his mind. Because, instead of carrying our shared responsibility for what happened we do tend to prefer to blame it all on one guy. Going with, “how were we supposed to know he was going to go crazy” removes the responsibility, and we can readily move on to make the same mistakes again.
The US military has a solid tradition to train every operation beforehand, so that any possible snags are noticed beforehand and that everything works smoothily, like a clockwork. By all signs this campaign was not trained at all. Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz for decades, yet, it seems like the US had no contingency plan for that precise, and fairly expectable event???
I guess the reason why the easy assasination operation went south so fast and has continued as an ongoing crisis, has been apparent from the very first hours of it having started. The failure of the Trump administration to inform the public about the goals of the “special operation” may really have been, because they had none. The mixed and multiple goals they gave, were all real enough, exept, that they were not so much goals as they were excuses. The real motivation did not come from helping the oppressed Iranian people, any more than it came from Iran developing nukes. The US intelligence network had just reported Iran was nowhere near achieving a nuke, and if the goal is to help the people, where do the threats of killing an entire civilization by bombing basic infrastructure, like bridges and power stations, fit in? Besides, honestly, does Donald Trump really strike as someone who wants to help anyone but himself? If powerplants are systematically bombed however, there are going to be killed a lot more than just a civilization, in a country where temperatures are pushing 50 degrees Celcius. Without power the people will be dropping like flies.
The real reason for this war may be an attempt to distract the public of the fact, that the DOJ has failed to follow the law to release the Epstein files before last christmass, or not. Yet, it may also be, that Bibi, to whom this war has been a political success and a natural continuum of his politics of fear, hatred, apartheid and pandering to the religious Fascists in his own government, only managed to sell his case to an already very receptive Donald. Rubio (who has called Trump a charlatan) is reported to have washed his hands by calling Bibi’s case nonsense, and Vance (who has compared Trump to Hitler – but I guess it was in a loving way), made an objection, but promised to back Trump up on the war. These spineless politicians should have taken the time to explain the most likely consequences to their helplessly ignorant boss, who now is conducting a war in an area where he thinks one can simply walk from Iran to the UAE, exept of course that in the real life you have that little thing in between called the Persian Gulf – soon to be renamed the Trump Gulf I hear…
USA and Israel started this war by a concentration of power and less than daring air raids. They have sunk most of Irans navy, wich is too bad, because now that the Strait of Hormuz is saturated with mines, the Iranian ships capable of collecting the mines are no more. Quite revealing of the level of consideration put to the war effort, is the fact that the US minelaying ships able to defuse seamines, all four of them (!!!!), were in the middle of the Pacific when the operation begun. Trump cried help from NATO, and sure enough many of those countries (like for example Denmark) has capacity to answer to this call… exept, that the NATO articles can not be evoked, if you are the aggressor, and that this attack is against the international laws, and to add insult to injury, other NATO countries, let alone the UN, were left out of the loop when this attack was planned and decided for. So, essentially there are not that many ships coming to aid the USA. To this Trump has reacted like an aggravated teenager, or some moron, by making threats, that the US might effectively pull out of NATO. Somebody really needs to tell him how much the USA has benefited from NATO being a union of mutually reliant countries. Altough, he may have already broken it, because other NATO countries have stopped to consider the US as a reliable ally, or a reliable arms supplier. The harm this will cause to the US weapons industry in the long run is immeasurable, because half of the marketting strategy has been, if you buy our expensive weapons systems, we will grant protection.
Today the poor planning of a war of opportunity has led to a ridiculous stale mate. This in turn puts president Trump to a difficult position. He is frustrated and flailing angrily, because things do not go his way. This frustration is manifesting in a number of seemingly insane expressions of “epic fury”, like Trump telling us the pope is “weak on crime”. What ever that’s supposed to mean? That the pope has not done enough to prevent the gun violence raging in the Vatican, or something?
Trump and the Iranians may try to tell us they have won the war, but as for now, there seems to be only one actual winner to this war; that is Putin. Oil is the main export of Russia and as the price has gone up, so has Trump taken down enbargoes. Besides, while fending off Iranian missiles and drones, USA may and has already faced shortages to the supply of it’s allies both Europe and Asia. Most desperately Ukraine and Taiwan.
I do not find the angry messaging of the president as a sign of dementia, as much as simply the continuous mad ravings of an idiot. The very same idiot, as he has ever been. He has always had this uncanny ability to choose the worst option, whenever possible, exept that – lucky for the rest of us – he is a coward too, so him constantly backing from bold, or even insane claims, has mitigated the damage he could achieve. The way it may now look like his mental state is getting worse, may well only be how his stupid descisions are cumulating as time goes by. The descision to pull out from the Iran nuclear deal might have seemed less harmfull, untill now combined with and resulting in this pointless war. If his behaviour may have become any more erratic, it is likely due to how he has become more complacent with power at the same time he has surrounded himself increasingly loyal, but more incompetent people, as the problems he causes accumulate around him. The fact that any selfish moron with so much power is likely to stomp himself deeper into the bog tells us nothing about his health.
