Make your dreams happen!!

There is no limit to what you can do,

Your dreams define who are you.

So dream and never be scared,

You can’t reach your potential, unless you have dared!

The beauty of dreams is that they make us feel alive,

One could be mad if what they expect never arrive.

But choice is yours,  work harder to make your dreams come true,

Or just sit and wait for good things to happen to you!!

First step towards my goal 35 by 35!!

So this goal is nothing but my wanderlust 🙂

I have promised myself that I have to go to 35 countries by the time I am 35 years old. Many would think it’s impossible if you are a wife, a mum and a working women. Well it’s daunting for sure, especially when you are 33.5 years old and have only 1.5 years left to cover 23 countries. This means even if I travel every 6 months, I will have to cover atleast 7 to 8 countries in one trip.

Hence following my maths, today is starting my first trip to covering 8 countries in the next 21 days. To be honest things like this are possible when you have a supportive husband who loves you more than anything else in the world and knows the importance of you meeting your goals. Being a girl born in India, I was never allowed to travel alone when I was young. I can understand the protectiveness of my parents to some extent. But all I wanted to do was travel so I asked my mum if I can’t go on the trips with my friends when will you let me go alone on any trip? She would laugh and say after you got married and I would just get frustrated listening to this, but thank god that I got married to someone who understands me and was willing to take care of our daughter while I am away and of course I would have done that for him but he definitely did encouraged me to take this step in direction to fulfill my wanderlust!!

Will keep you posted on my journey to the next 23 countries I’ll be going to with one chapter on each country I visit. Next in line is UK ( London)!!

Travel is big!

Travel had also been one of the biggest things for me, but I don’t think I have done justice with it till date. When I was 18 or something I told my dad that I want a job where I can travel and live in different places and don’t want to be at same place for more than a couple of years. He laughed at me and said I am talking like a banjaran an Indian word for gypsy who wants to wander all their life and never settle down! But that’s me I have this wanderlust within me since am born I guess.

Parents in India are super protective so forget about the gap year or backpacking when one is young. Even sending me to college in a city other than my hometown was not an option in my house. So I was told that I have to work the hardest to get admission to one of best engineering colleges in my hometown Chandigarh else I shall study commerce and the. Look at studying CA as it could be done studying at home or online being near to my hometown. Anyways I did get the college my father wanted for me and was able to happily finish my college while staying at home. Then came the time when   I had the opportunity to move out of my home town for work, there again my dad wanted me to get into Infosys as they had campus in Chandigarh. But destiny was on my side this time or god had another plan for me. I did work the hardest to get into Infosys but couldn’t and got through the Tata consultancy services instead which meant going out to Trivandrum for 2 months training and then relocation based on the options you choose. My journey began then!!
