Hi! My name is Jesse Altman. Thanks for checking out my personal site. I am a professional software engineer/architect with expertise primarily within the Salesforce ecosystem, although I have dabbled in lots of different things over the course of my career.
Current Life
I currently work for Certinia (formerly FinancialForce) as a Senior Technical Architect helping lead the engineering effort on our Professional Services Cloud solution. My current role combines customer facing work and engineering work. On the customer side of things, I routinely engage directly with our largest customers through sales (advising sales engineering on challenges such as scale/performance), implementation (advising professional services and customer IT orgs on integration strategy), and during support (as the highest support tier possible on the most complex issues). On the engineering side, I work with our globally distributed development teams by assisting in product system design, ensuring clear, consistent collaboration across teams, and ensuring proper engineering standards are followed.
Past Experience
I’ve been at Certinia for over a decade now, initially starting as a Software Engineer and working my way up through to Senior Software Engineer, Architecture Lead, Technical Architect, and now a Senior Technical Architect. My role has evolved over time, starting initially as an engineer working directly on a scrum team on the Human Capital Management (HCM) product, before transitioning to an Architecture Lead as more teams rolled onto that product. As the company grew, I was given the opportunity to become the lead architect on the Professional Services Automation (PSA) product. PSA has done amazingly well, growing to become a true market leader in the professional services space. With that success, we have grown into other areas under the Professional Services Cloud banner, such as Services CPQ and Customer Success Cloud, both products which I have engaged regularly with.
Prior to working at Certinia, I worked for Trifecta Technologies for 4 years. At the time I worked there, I jumped around different technologies quite a bit (having experience in Java, C#, PHP, and more). While I primarily worked as a software engineer, I also did took on the role of a Project Manager for awhile as well. One of my main accomplishments working at Trifecta was helping kickstart their Salesforce consulting practice. I was the first engineer to get certified on the Salesforce platform and I eventually leveraged that into a Salesforce MVP title.
Education / Certifications
I am a proud Penn State graduate. I attended the College of Information Sciences and Technology with the Integration and Application option in May 2010 from the University Park campus. Before that, I spent two years at the Lehigh Valley Penn State campus.
In addition to my formal collegiate education, I have also obtained a variety of certifications and awards.

Salesforce MVP Hall of Fame
One of the proudest moments of my career was being given the honor of being named a Salesforce MVP.
Salesforce MVPs are product experts and community leaders. They are committed to continuing their learning, sharing their expertise, and finding ways to innovate within the Salesforce ecosystem. As leaders and Salesforce advocates, they attend regular meetings to understanding community happenings, provide product and program feedback, and stay in close contact with the Trailblazer Community team. We expect Salesforce MVPs to lead with kindness and inclusivity, and represent and respect the Salesforce brand by adhering to the Salesforce MVP Code of Conduct.
After being renewed for a total of five years as a Salesforce MVP and having consistently showcased the program’s pillars of expertise, leadership, and generosity, I was selected for the Salesforce MVP Hall of Fame.
Personal Life

I am happily married to my beautiful wife (Sam) and a proud father of 2 amazing young kids (Lucas and Sadie) living in Pennsylvania, USA. Our family includes a huge newfypoo (Newfoundland and Poodle mix) named Captain Ziggyboom (goes by Ziggy) and a small orange tabby cat named General Snackattack (goes by Snack) in addition to 3 ball pythons (Professor Bazinga, Princess Poppy, and Lt. Dan). In my free time, I try to spend as much time as possible with family, but at the end of the day I am a big nerd at heart. My passions include playing video games, jamming out on my bass, playing board games with friends, and just generally trying to have a good time as much as possible. I’m a relatively laid back person who enjoys going with the flow.
