Scissors Paper Glue 7

collages 25 – 28

Four more of the sixty small collages in this journal, using various papers from my stash. They came together very intuitively – I cut random shapes, moved them around on the pages, adding and removing until I was satisfied. Size of the journal is 20 x 20 cms/8″ x 8″.

The Very Colorful Journal

This is the follow-up to the cardboard journal, using a similar technique to create the individual pages. Above and below are half of the pages – the more successful ones (there are 48 pages in all).

For this one, I have scavenged half of an art journal with a glued spine – the pages threatened to fall out before even starting. The other half went into the Sketches & Drawings art journal which is currently in the making.

Pages are 20.5 x 20.5 cms (8″ x 8″ approx.). I gessoed all the pages, then glued scraps from old book pages onto half of the pages. The pages are painted with acrylics, using stencils to add and remove the paint. I also used acrylic media and paste, acrylic markers, white gel pen, black fineliner and lead pencil for the final layers. The cover of the ring-bound journal is made from recycled packaging and handmade Indian papers. As the pages tended to stick together I covered most of them with Schmincke wax gel which seems to work so far.

Green print

cotton, acrylic paint, size 30 x 30 cms

Another panel from the print class at T&T. I brought some fabric from my stash, stuck painter’s tape on top, printed with three different woodblocks and removed the tape.

Circles

cotton, polyester, silk embroidery thread, size 30 x 30 cms

A test piece from the ufo pile – circles stitched on a piece of an old cushion cover. I tried buttons in the centers of the circles, didn’t like it and left it as is.

Scissors Paper Glue 1

collages  1 – 4

Starting in January, I began to fill the pages of a small art journal (20 x 20 cms/8″ x 8″) with collages, using various papers from my stash. When the journal became too thick I removed the kraft paper pages and saved them for another day. There are sixty small collages in this journal. They came together very intuitively – I cut random shapes, moved them around on the pages, adding and removing until I was satisfied.
