Our ALMIGHTY GOD, GOD of all gods

WITHOUT A DOUBT, OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME, MIGHTY GOD! HE IS THE GOD of all gods.

HE IS ONE GOD, THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE GOD.

Deut. 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: and thou shalt love the LORD thy God will all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Deut. 10:17 For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regarded not persons, nor taketh reward: (KJV) For the LORD your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, the awesome God who does not show partiality nor take a bribe. (AMP)

Isa. 43:10-11 ‘before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no savior.’ (KJV).

Psa. 136:1-2 O give thanks unto the LORD ; for he is good: For his mercy endures forever. O give thanks unto the God of gods:

WARNING FROM GOD:

Exo. 20:3, Deut. 5 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Deut. 4:28 ‘gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell’.

Deut. 5:7-10 Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

5:29, 35, 39 But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. . .’the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him. ‘the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: There is none else.’

Deut. 5:32-33 Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.

Deut. 6:13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name. Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you; (For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

Rev. 21 Consider all of these categories of people who will not make it to rule and reign with the Lord in the Millennial kingdom:

Rev. 21:7-8 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burnt with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

The verses in Revelation are profound if you notice that the ‘fearful and unbelieving‘ folks who reject the Lord’s free gift of salvation and eternal life for whatever reason, are on TOP of the list with the violent, immoral, and heathen worshippers following. Liars happen to be at the bottom of the list. It is most grievous that there will be ‘good, well-intentioned people’, ‘fearful and unbelieving’ folks left out of heaven because of their acceptance of worshipping idols and many other gods, but not the one, and only TRUE GOD.

ADDENDUM- The apostle Paul’s words on pagan worship- Acts chapter 17:16-34 describes his experience in Athens at a place called Mars Hill. He saw ‘the city given to idolatry’ somewhat like my experience in Japan which has historically rejected the Christian faith for the most part, with its thousands of shrines, temples, and infinite number of spirit deities.

Paul disputed with Jews and a mixed crowd of learned men and strangers as they questioned him about ‘preaching unto them Jesus, and the resurrection’. (17:18) He pointed out to the Athenians that he saw an altar inscription, ‘TO THE UNKNOWN GOD’ that they ignorantly worshipped. He told them that they were ‘too superstitious‘. Only a handful of folks became believers in his gospel message; he was mocked by most of the people for ‘presenting another strange god to them.’

In reasoning with the Athenians in Acts 17:24-27 he said:

‘God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he gives to all life, and breath and all things; And hath made from one man all nations of mankind to live on the face of the earth, . . . That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he is not far from each one of us: (KJV) (AMP)

SAKURA SEASON IN JAPAN, Part 2

Many gods to choose from

In Japanese culture and religion there are many, many gods to choose from to honor and implore. I read/Googled that there are 75,000-80,000 Buddhist temples and 80,000-100,000 Shinto shrines.

Also, there are 65 main gods and 8 million kami or an infinite number of spirits that reside in everything relating to nature, weather, household objects, etc.

We passed through the entrance of a shrine and walked through its gardens with throngs of people.

This concludes a short post on my tour to Kyushu Island in south Japan. As people who have traveled to Japan have told me, I, too was very impressed with the clean streets and sidewalks and graciousness of the Japanese people. The travel arrangements, hotel accommodations, and food were outstanding; our tour escorts and bus driver outdid themselves in assuring us of an excellent tour during the Sakura cherry blossom season. I learned a lot from my visit to Nagasaki and my interest in nature was piqued from seeing so many hot springs and miles of agriculture and communities in the outskirts of the volcanic areas.

Last of all, I have a treasure trove of memories made in the special time spent with my youngest grandchild. He has made previous trips to Japan and did a great job in our free time navigating and shopping in the city of Fukuoka. He graduated from Stanford University and goes off to NYC to work in July. He is my fourth grandchild that Hawaii has lost to better job opportunities on the mainland.
