Outdoors.
Hi, I’m Dustin (but most people call me Dusty). I design and develop tools that help communities thrive online and off. My work blends technology, education, creativity, design, and a passion for the outdoors to create meaningful impact.

My Projects
Here are a few of the projects I’m working on (or can’t seem to stop thinking about). They cover everything from web development to outdoor adventures — the stuff that keeps me curious.

Ski Da UP
Ski Da UP is a side project of mine that celebrates the past and present of skiing in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It’s part storytelling, part digital archive. Explore local ski culture, current and lost ski areas, and the people who’ve shaped the region’s winter identity. The project blends history, community, and information to keep the UP’s ski story alive.

OuterHub
I am in the process of developing a platform designed to help outdoor recreation groups manage members, volunteers, events, and fundraising. Built to make it easier for small clubs and nonprofits to stay organized, grow their communities, and focus more on getting people outside. I am combining my experience of leading an outdoor recreation organization with my expertise in development an technology to create a tool to help more people experience the outdoors.

Sisu Dirt Crew
Sisu Dirt Crew is a nonprofit trail organization based in Ironwood, Michigan, dedicated to building, maintaining, and advocating for local mountain bike and multi-use trails. As president of the board, I help guide projects, events, and community partnerships that strengthen outdoor recreation in the Western Upper Peninsula.

AI Training & Education
I’m creating a series of talks and training sessions exploring how AI is reshaping the way we work, create, and communicate and what that means for the future. These sessions look beyond the buzzwords to examine real-world impacts, ethical questions, and how we can adapt thoughtfully to an AI-driven world.

Speaking, Teaching & Sharing Ideas
From local meetups to conferences across the country, I’ve spent over a decade speaking and teaching about web development, technology, design, and community. I enjoy helping people understand how tech connects to real life, whether in a classroom, on a stage, or in a person to person.
