About Us
We are you. We live here. This is our community.
As members of this shared space, we stand together with one common goal: to protect what matters most—our neighborhoods, schools, families, businesses, churches, water, and the wildlife that calls this place home. The growing threat of a Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) right in our backyard threatens everything we’ve worked to preserve. These facilities come with the risk of fires, toxic fumes, waste, and pollution, all of which could devastate our environment, our health, and the future of our community.
We’re not just bystanders; we’re actively organizing, educating, and advocating for change. Through our collective efforts, we aim to protect our community and ensure our voices are heard by local governments, businesses, and organizations. Join us, and let’s safeguard what makes our home truly special—together.

Lithium Battery Storage Systems Do Not Belong in Neighborhoods
Right in Our Backyard
Compass Energy Storage LLC has proposed constructing, owning, and operating an approximately 250-megawatt (MW) battery energy storage system (BESS) on a 13-acre site in the northern portion of San Juan Capistrano, adjacent to Camino Capistrano and Interstate-5. The facility would store up to 250 MW of electricity for four hours (up to 1,000 megawatt-hours) and would use lithium-iron phosphate or similar battery technology, along with inverters, transformers, a switchyard, collector substation, and related equipment.
Although the application for the San Juan Capistrano site remains open but currently suspended, Engie has made it clear it intends to move forward with a project in South Orange County. Whether at the current SJC location or at a new site potentially between Trabuco and Capistrano, the search is actively focused within South OC. This means our homes, schools, and neighborhoods remain at risk — and continued community awareness and action are essential to protect our region.
