Peaceful Pictures for Pepper Day

Here we are again already…the 22nd of April and Pepper Day is here again!  Ra’s suggestion for “pictures that bring us peace” was a great one and while I’m a little left of an amateur photographer, I thought I’d share some of the pictures I’ve taken that bring me peace.  Hope you enjoy – See you next Pepper Day!   Di

A picture I took in my friends garden in Old Edna, California.

The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge in Charleston SC, a sign that I’m getting closer to my Charleston grandkids.

Taken In Indian Harbor Beach Florida at a condo we were staying in while our house was being repaired from a hurricane.

On a trip to North Carolina.

Catalina California where we have gone on vacation a couple of times.

A Ginger Plant taken a Brevard Zoo.

Taken from the same condo in Indian Harbor Beach. Stayed there 2 months. I didn’t want to leave.

Taken in my yard of the sun coming up behind the tree.

Taken in my back yard. One of my three Raintrees that bloom around Thanksgiving time.

Big Sur California, scenic Highway 1, where we have traversed 4 times since our wedding in Carmel in 1989.

The dock behind Cafe Coconut Restaurant in Melbourne Beach Florida, our favorite restaurant with great German food.

A waterfall in Rock Island Tennessee where we visited Smithville Tennessee regularly to see great friends.

The Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina

I forget the name of this beautiful plant I had on my back porch in a hanging basket. Have not seen one since.

Time to leave the pool! A storm blowing in at the Indian Harbor Beach condo.

Pepper Day Is For Sharing Too

The 22nd snuck up on me once again.  While I have not been too creative of late my oldest son has.  Quite by accident he has become a very good  photographer.  He’s a lover of all things water and fishing and began shooting some pictures while he was out fishing.  I immediately noticed that he had a knack for it.  Borrowing his creativity for this Pepper day.

Sharing some of his recent photos here.

First an introduction:  This is Jason

 Have a nice day!

LET’S TAP!

NANOPOBLANO2020 DAY

This morning I woke up with a killer headache.  I’m no stranger to headaches as I suffered from Migraines for years. I gave myself injections, took pills and just about every remedy known. Thankfully (knock on wood) they finally went away. I take Topamax daily to keep them at bay.  Occasionally I get a good ole’ tension headache. The ones that take up residence in the back of your head and neck and refuse to go away…until I discovered Tapping Therapy. Tapping is referred to as the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).  I highly recommend the above book “Tapping Solution” by Nick Ortner but for now here are a few charts to get you started.

THESE ARE THE BASIC TAPPING POINTS FOR BOTH WOMEN AND MEN.

THE FOUR STEPS TO TAPPING

TAPPING POINT EMOTIONS

One of the things I like about tapping is that you can do it just about anywhere, anyplace.  It doesn’t take long depending on results.  I’ve only used it for headaches but I have always had success.  It can be applied to many things like anxiety and weight loss for instance.

Give it a try!

Maybe my headache is a sadness headache…I’m a little sad it’s the last day for NanoPoblano.  I’m glad to have made your acquaintance or re-acquaintance as the case may be. I’ve enjoyed your posts and the interaction with fun people. I’m hoping we can all look forward to a healthy, happy 2021. Happy Holidays to you and yours!

THIS OLD HOUSE

NANOPOBLANO2020 DAY

THIS OLD HOUSE – ANNISTON ALABAMA

It has always been a dream of mine to have an old Victorian house.  Once  I got married, was deep into my career, kids in college,  etc. this dream slipped further and further away.  Enter a trip to Anniston Alabama for my son’s graduation from Jacksonville State where we came upon this monster of a house for sale for $89,000.  To say it needed work would be a gross understatement.

Underneath all the old paint,  rot,  rats,  and God knows what else there was potential so we decided to get in touch with the Realty company who would then get in touch with some subcontractors to get an estimate of how much it would cost to just put the basic house back together, i.e, floors, electric, plumbing, etc. With that we headed back to Florida where we had just purchased a new house.

Garage and upstairs apartment.

Soon the quotes started pouring in for the work in Anniston. It wasn’t that any one of them was too outrageous, it was that when all added together they started mounting to what (in our pocket books)  looked like the National Debt. So in the end, all things considered, we opted out.  I cried and cried because I knew this was probably my last shot at this dream ever happening.

Tom and my son Jason talking things over.

Do you have a life-long dream?

5 PLACES AROUND THE WORLD YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT

NANOPOBLANO2020 DAY

Milkyway

Information excerpted from Travel Pirates “10 Insane Places Around the World You Didn’t Know Existed”.

The Fairy Pools – Isle of Skye, Scotland

Located near the village of Carbost on the Isle of Skye, many visitors come to the pools to admire their crystal clear waters. These so-called “Fairy Pools” embody a sense of magic in their unbelievably blue waters. Visitors can hike through the Glen Brittle forest and take a dip in the natural pools if they choose.

Door to Hell – Turkmenistan

This 230-foot-wide crater in the middle of the desert near the village of Derweze in Turkmenistan may be one of the most terrifying natural destinations in the world. Known also as the ‘Gateway to Hell” and “Crater of Fire,” this burning gas pit has enticed thousands of visitors to its fiery rim. There are no roads, guided paths, or fences to protect visitors from its edges, so daredevils be warned!

Stairway to Heaven – Hawaii

The Haiku Stairs, or Stairway to Heaven, is considered one of the most beautiful hikes in the world. It is also technically illegal. However, to get to the stairs legally, you can take the Kaulana’ahane Trail, a 4-hour hike along the Kamananui Valley Road Trail that eventually leads to a panoramic viewpoint of the Haiku Valley! The hike is extremely dangerous at the top of the ridge since there is no fencing, so caution is necessary. However, the view is spectacular once you make it to the top.

Spotted Lake – Canada

Another alien-looking destination is the “Spotted Lake,” located in British Columbia, Canada. The lake’s polka dot pattern is caused as the lake evaporates in the summer, revealing circular wells of yellow, blue, and green mineral deposits left behind by the water.

Hillier Lake – Australia

Known also as the “Pink Lake,” this beautiful oddity is a bubblegum pink lake on Middle Island, right off the coast of western Australia. Its color excites both tourists and scientists alike, and although its location is isolated and difficult to reach, visitors can marvel at it via helicopters and cruises.

Here is a link to Travel Pirates for the other 5 I didn’t highlight here.

SOME ART I LIKE

NANOPOBLANO2020 DAY

Hanalei House” by Jenifer Prince

Art is generally understood as any activity or product done by people with a communicative or aesthetic purpose—something that expresses an idea, an emotion or, more generally, a world view. It is a component of culture, reflecting economic and social substrates in its design.  (wikipedia)

My definition of Art is anything that catches and pleases the eye or moves you emotionally. I’m no connoisseur of Art and in fact some art  leaves me scratching my head. Further, I can’t draw anything! Here is some Art from my “Favorite Art” file.

paper art by Su Backwell “Tea Party”

“Family of Four” by Yenny Cocq

Naming “Girl with Sunflower” by A.W. Stein

WHAT MAKES YOU SMILE?

NANOPOBLANO2020 DAY 23

Getting to know someone new is a real treat, and what better way to start off a new friendship or relationship than by finding out what makes them happy. As we have worked our way through the days of NanoPoblano I have seen more and more of people’s personalities peeking through when they speak of what makes them happy.  Here are some things that make me smile. What about yours?

  • Spending time with family or friend

  • Having a purpose

  • Creating

  • Walk on the beach

  • Doing something nice for someone

  • Babies

  • Animals

  • Being healthy

  • Feeling good/fit

  • Reading

  • Going on holiday

  • Music

  • Time to myself

  • Sunday dinners

  • New fallen snow

  • Making a difference

WHAT FAMOUS WRITERS SAID

NANOPOBLANO2020 DAY 23

For our 2016 National Poetry Month I selected a famous writer each day for 29 days to spotlight then on the last day, my favorite, I featured “Writers I Know”. It was great fun and I was happy to feature them. All of those posts can be seen on DiAnne’s Scribbles blog beginning April 02, 2016 if you’ like to take a look.

Today, just some quotes by famous poets.
